Sermon Title: “Behavior Blindness”
2 Samuel 11:26-12:13a
Key Verse(s): “The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart.” Psalm 51:17 .”But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him, who is the head, into Christ.” Ephesians 4:15 Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.'”John 6:35
Central Theme: David gets Bathsheba pregnant, murders her husband Uriah and never guesses that the Prophet Nathan would have something to say about it. How could David be so blind, dense, clueless – hypocritical? When we see such “behavior blindness” in ourselves it can be so devastating; when we see “behavior blindness” in our world it can be so disturbing. But the failure to recognize and repent from “behavior blindness” is beyond devastating and disturbing because it results in catastrophic consequences.
